This painting was inspired by a particular barn that a friend told me about, and also by the beautiful rolling hills in Adams County, PA. Doing this painting was a labor of love and frustration. I struggled mostly with the foreground and almost ditched the whole painting at one point.Originally I had green grass in the foreground and no path. Out of frustration I wiped some of the foreground away and sat glaring at the painting. My wife Becky, while trying to talk me into a more positive mindset, commented that in the place where I wiped, it almost looked like there was a path there. That was the solution. Once I put in the path and changed the grasses to gold, the whole thing fell together. The path connected the flow of the mountains with the foreground.
I have to give credit to my wife as she has saved many paintings. This is one reason I only sign with our last name and not just my full name.
