I saw this river and set up to paint. It was very hot, and the shadow areas of the painting were drying very fast, to the point where I had to re-paint them to maintain wet edges. This barn is right down the road from our church. While painting it I got to meet a couple people who grew up there. I'm doing an event this weekend called Plein Air Camp Hill in Camp Hill, PA. This event allows you to paint a head of time so a couple weekends ago I went up to Camp Hill and painted this wonderful blue house. I started around 7am and finished up around noon. This painting was done strictly in a limited palette. I was attracted to the bright blue contrasting the sun-bleached greens, as well as the shape of the stream. I set up my painting gear and created this study. Sadly the photograph of the painting doesn't show the brilliant blues I was able to capture. I may turn this into a larger painting, I may not. Time will tell. The drake and hen are courting for now but after the eggs hatch the drake will take off with the other "bachelors" and leave the hen to raise the ducklings alone all Summer.
