Morning Drift, oil on linen panel, 9"x12"
This painting was a fun experiment in textures and brushstrokes. The morning light on the Pintail is the real subject. I have witnessed scenes like this many times, scenes that most people, including waterfowl hunters rarely get to witness. A lone duck calmly drifting on the calm morning waters of a early spring marsh, with sounds of other ducks and birds, including turkeys, off in the distance. It is an incredibly peaceful feeling. I had to get up very early and sit completely still in camouflage in order to witness this. You can experience this feeling and see this beauty on your wall everyday-without the camouflage.
