White on White, oil on linen, 18"x24"

It snowed here last Wednesday, a beautiful, gentle snow that graced the tree branches with beautiful laces of white, yet conveniently melted when it landed on the roads. Needless to say I felt an urge to go out and paint. I created a field study of this scene that evening and the next day worked up this larger studio painting. Normally a studio painting would take longer to compose but this scene needed barely any alterations. I wish there were most places like this.
