Calm Before the Storm, oil on linen, 18"x24"


This wetland was outside of Driggs, Idaho. I saw it early in the morning a couple summers ago. It was very calm and quiet that morning, a few ducks could be heard in the distance. Dark clouds were moving into the area but the waters were still very calm. The entire scene produced a sense of calm which I knew would soon change once the storm hit. Using the field study I created, I produced the studio study (see below) and the final painting above. These paintings will be exhibited for the first time at the NatureWorks Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma, March 2-3.
