The Stick Pile, oil on linen panel, 11"x14"

When I saw this barn while traveling in a rural area last week I knew I had to paint it. It was off a small country road right at the bend on the bottom of a small hill. It looked like it had been abandoned a number of years ago, and the fallen branches in front gave further evidence of this. One can only imagine when the last time was it was used, and what it was used for.

Either way it had such a beautiful shape, and the foreground tree added such wonderful interest. It was a gem that I felt very fortunate to stumble upon while traveling.
