Door County Plein Air

Hello Everyone!

Door County Plein Air is just around the corner. This is the first time I've been invited to this prestigious event, and I'm looking forward to painting in my native Midwest. They call Door County the "Cape Cod of the Midwest." If you are close to this area come and watch me paint starting July 20 and enjoy a nice vacation in a beautiful area. Along with watching the nation's top plein air artists at work, there will be lectures on art, food, music, and the Collector's Preview Party. On Saturday, July 26th there will be a Dockside Quick Draw. For more information go to www.doorcountypleinair.com/home.html. I hope to see you there.

Below are a couple beautiful paintings that are available. I will also be announcing a New Gallery in a week! Thanks and I'll talk to you soon.

New Painting-Ozark Mountain Barn

Hello Everyone,

This last March, I was stuck in Tulsa, Oklahoma for one extra day after the NatureWorks Show due to a massive snow storm that moved through the South. On my way back I had to drive through the Ozark Mountains which were covered with snow. I made a few detours to take photographs of the beauty that the snow created.

This painting is one of the scenes I encountered that day. The red of the barn is complimented by the blueish/green doors, while the trees provide depth and interest. The arrangement of the cows compliments the horizontal format of the composition and lead the eye to the barn. The digital photo can't due justice to all the color subtlety, brushwork, and texture, but this painting is one of my best landscape paintings to date. Contact me at Jason@JasonTako.com to inquire about adding this piece to your collection.

Don't forget about History Meets the Arts which starts this Thursday evening and runs through Saturday.

History Meets the Arts this Week!

History Meets the Arts starts this Thursday night! This is the historical art event on the East Coast. Come and see some of the nations top historical, wildlife and landscape artists at this prestigious and exciting event. I could go on and on about the incredible art, sculptures, replicas of 18th century furniture, firearms, knives, great food, and so on. But to get a good visual taste of the show, click on this link and scroll down to watch the short video to see what you can experience at History Meets the Arts. I'll be there with new work in the Ballroom of the Gettysburg College, and I'll be giving several talks about painting outdoors. I'll see you there.

Cautiously Curious sold last week to a very prominent wildlife art collector. While it's too late to add this painting to your collection, I have a new painting posted below called Appalachian Stream. This is based on a beautiful trickling stream in the Appalachian Mountains within walking distance from the famous Appalachian Trail that stretches from Georgia to Maine. The vertical format emphasizes the tall trees that inhabit these mountains. See more at www.JasonTako.com

Plein Air Camp was a great success! The event gets better every year. We were allowed to paint anywhere in south central PA so I took the opportunity to paint some country scenes. I also sold The Horse Barn and my quick draw painting The Yellow House. See below for photos of these paintings.

The next event that I will be at is History Meets the Arts this coming June 12-14. I will be giving several talks on painting outdoors and exhibiting my latest works at the show. If you like art, if you like history, this is an event you will not want to miss.

Teton Aspens, Plein Air Camp Hill Next Week!

OK, I admit it, I've had a thing for aspen trees lately, if you have not been able to tell. I have been putting them in many of my recent paintings. Call it my "Aspen Phase." And it's a phase that could last a long time. That beautiful white bark catches so many of the surrounding colors, and the black patterns are so fun to play with.

Teton Aspens, my latest painting, is a beautiful rendition of how ambient light can effect the white bark of aspen trees. The white barn picks up all kinds of blues, greens and even magenta colors. Check out the brushwork and all the color on the aspen bark in the detail image below. These aspens were on the western side of the Grand Teton Mountains in Wyoming. I wanted to give the viewer beautiful display of light and color along with a feeling of depth and mystery. Contact me at Jason@JasonTako.com to add this unique and beautiful painting to your collection.

Just a reminder, Plein Air Camp Hill starts next week. I will be painting there starting Monday. The event opens to the public Friday, May 16th. Click here to get more information. Be there, it is a great event with great art!

Also, some may wonder why I'm not doing Plein Air Easton this year. I did not apply this year since I was accepted into Door County Plein Air which starts the same day Plein Air Easton ends. If you can make Door County I have been told it is an incredible event with some of the top Plein Air artists in the world. More information to follow.
